What is stored on your device

Buddypins itself stores information in your browser's localStorage, not in cookies. This includes your display name and which maps you have visited on this device. This information stays on your device and is not sent to any third party.

The following cookies are set by external services that the app depends on:

Cloudflare Turnstile

Used to protect the service from bots and abuse. Turnstile sets cookies to verify that requests come from a real browser. These cookies are technically necessary for the service to function.

cf_clearance — confirms that a browser challenge has been passed. Set by Cloudflare. Expires after 30 minutes to 1 day.
Turnstile may also set short-lived session cookies during the verification process.

Google Maps Platform

Used to display maps and retrieve place information. When the map is loaded, Google may set cookies in accordance with Google's own cookie policy.

NID, CONSENT, SOCS — cookies set by Google for functionality and preferences. Typically expire after 6 months to 2 years.

No consent banner needed

Since only technically necessary cookies are used — no advertising, analytics, or tracking — a consent banner is not required under current EU rules (GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive).
